" I love natural beauty with irregularities, rather than the result of artificial effects "
What is your signature?
Excess is the enemy of good. I love natural beauty with irregularities, rather than the result of artificial effects. I cook a lot, it’s a little bit similar, you should not overdo it. With the right ingredients, logically everything becomes obvious!
What is the most complicated task ever demanded of you?
The first time I managed a team for a show. It was for Balmain’s men’s fitting room. I did not sleep a wink. Although there was a lot of pressure, it was very rewarding. I am currently looking after the Elite show. The need to direct and pass the message means that I have to excel.
What inspires you?
I visit a lot of exhibitions. I adore Bernard Buffet for example. His work is easy, easy to understand, moving. I also draw a lot of inspiration from people in the street: their way of speaking and moving, the interaction between girls and boys …
And the job that you won’t forget?
A two-day shoot with Karl Lagerfeld, when I was still an assistant. I had never seen such a huge production. I was very impressed to be able to work with such a team. The right note was hit: I had found my calling.
What do you see as modern in today’s hairdressing ?
I like movement and well-timed irregularity. I adore short hair and girls that do not adopt the «little girl» look. But, generally speaking, the key is to discover the right volume for each person, the right balance between hair and face.
