"I like to create shapes into texture. Hair doesn’t have to be set and done. It could be a picture moment, a placement of hair that would last for a few minute before it vanishes."
What is your signature?
If anything it will be about textures. I like to create shapes into texture. Hair doesn’t have to be set and “ done “. It could be a picture moment, a placement of hair that would last for a few minute before it vanishes. But the picture remain forever. I find it fascinating. So it’s about the placement, the angle and the texture. For me.
What is the most complicated task ever demanded of you?
Nothing is that complicated if you have time to deliver. What’s difficult is when you have 5 mn to achieve something that takes 1 hour. It happens a lot ! Especially on shows. But that’s also the adrenaline that pushes your limits.
What do you find fun about your job?
The travels ! The new day, everyday. And the unlimited ability to create over and over again. It’s a non ending story, a non ending photo shoot. Different cities, different people, same game.
What inspires you?
Inspiration is everywhere. It’s in the city you live, the book you read or the movie you watched a million time. I’m a movie lover, old films. The golden age of Hollywood, it inspires me for the longuest time.
And the job that you won’t forget?
My first Balmain hair campaign with Jean Baptiste Mondino. I couldn’t believe I was working with such a legend on my own project. I told myself, you did it.
What do you see as modern in today’s hairstylism ?
You know it’s a tricky question. What I’ll find modern maybe you don’t. Modern have a different meaning for many people. As far as hair, I don’t think that it’s about being current or modern. I think it’s about rocking it. If you have a mullet and you can rock it, you’ll look like a million dollar. The attitude is essentiel. You gotta live the hair that’s growing out of your head. And understand it. Once that’s done, you win!
