« I kept from my theater and cinema studies a fascination for the metamorphosis of a character and awareness on the importance of lighting. »
What is your signature?
Searching the perfect tone, working on precision, being concerned on details. Finding a line, a shadow, an interesting mouth to enlarge by bringing in my instinct and my creativity.
What do you find fun about your job?
Creating new characters every day, during every shoot, constructing an image together with different people, allowing everyone’s talent to come through. I also get excited thinking that the evolution of today’s materials and technologies will evolve my whole life.
What nourished you?
From my years of studying film and theatre, I remain fascinated by the metamorphosis of characters, and remain conscious on the importance of light. I can spend hours in front of a painting analyzing how the light works. That is vital for my way of shading and applying make-up.
Name one job that was particularly important to you.
My first photo-shoot for Self-Service. It was one of my first jobs. Very last minute, they had to replace Karim (Rahman) that I was assisting at the time. They could have chosen someone else but they chose me. A cutting-edge and established magazine trusted me, pushed me to my limits, and that was incredible.
What are you most proud of?
To have had the chance to be able to work so soon for such great media with amazing girls and really talented photographers. It’s hard to get into this business and I realize how fortunate I have been every time meeting young talents on the scene who have been impressed by my work. It reassures me and confirms the fact that I’ve made good choices, from my degree in economy to the time I spent studying film and theatre - everything was useful in the end.
What is your latest news?
I am in the middle of building my career. I want to work on shoots where I can express all of my creativity. To be with Open Talent makes total sense and this idea of mixing energies is very appealing and will definitely bring me a lot.
